Amazing Soundbeam

Check this out. One of the best music technological equipment ever. Full of possibilities and opportunities.

Soundbeam is an award-winning device which uses sensor technology to translate body movement into digitally generated sound and image.
It provides a medium through which even profoundly physically or learning impaired individuals can become expressive and communicative using music and sound. The sense of control, agency and independence which this provides can be a powerful motivator, stimulating learning and interaction in other areas.

About this, I would like to share something.
I had the opportunity to attend a unique musical event in which there were two portuguese music groups that include members with cerebral palsy. One is called "Saravá" and the other is "5th punkada". They are a great demonstration of the abilities that people with cerebral palsy may have, and that, although limited in some activities (like all humans), can provide enormous talents in various activities.

One of 5th punkada's members uses the SoundBeam. The band is made up of youth from the Cerebral Palsy Portuguese Association's regional Center.
The group composes original songs and his style is situated within the Pop, Rock and Funk. Originally founded by musictherapist Francisco Borges de Sousa, in 1993, the band is currently under the artistic direction of Paulo Jacob.
They have made numerous performances around the country, and also in England, Germany, Belgium, France, Greece, Spain, Italy and Finland, promoting the disabled person as an agent of culture, interacting with the audience through a musical performance that explores new approaches technological music. The 5th Punkada are: Adelaide Serafino (keyboards, prog. Rhythmic), Fausto Sousa (vocals), Márcio Reis (drums, keyboards, vocals), Ricardo Sousa (Soundbeam) and Paulo Jacob (guitar, keyboards, vocals).

Saravá is a project that was born five years ago at the Oporto's Cerebral Palsy Association. Its main aim is the creation of original songs in portuguese.
Throughout his short career has transversed our country by acting in various rooms, auditoriums and festivals. The group consists of four elements: Bruno Francisco (voice and composition), Jorge Ribeiro (percussion, keyboards, programming), Pedro Castro (keyboards) and Sergio Silva (guitars and artistic direction).

These people make us see what really counts in life. The energy to move on.

Greetings,
Carolina Santos
